TV Newsday: The Business of Broadcasting

Redline Digital was tasked with creating a custom content management system (CMS) for TV Newsday, one of the foremost outlets for up-to-the-minute television & broadcast news on the Web. We worked with the TV Newsday team to understand their business and create a system for them from scratch that was tailored to their individual workflow.

  • Content Management

    Content Management System

    TVNewsday.com allows their editors to edit virtually every facet of their website. Editors can create news articles with professional formatting tools, tag stories, sort articles, manage user comments, and more, all from their secure administration panel. TV Newsday also contains a comprehensive station directory which includes information on every station, group owner, and key person in the industry, all of which is editable via the control panel. In addition, a stock market feed was integrated from FinancialContent.com.

  • Opt-In E-mail Blasts

    Opt-In E-mail Blasts

    The website helps keep industry insiders in the loop with two daily newsletters, giving tens of thousands of television professionals the news they rely on. To help streamline this, we set up a system to automatically populate the newsletters with breaking news and features on the website. We then integrated their CMS with industry leader Listrak, to ensure timely and hassle-free e-mail delivery to their audience. Redline™ also updated the design of the newsletters to match the new look of the site.

  • Branding/Marketing Materials

    Redline™ created the overall brand identity for TV Newsday including colors and fonts, as well as business cards and marketing materials. Redline™ was also tasked with creating the newsletter design as well as branding for Tech Thursday, their new weekly newsletter geared towards technology professionals in the broadcasting industry.

  • Advertising

    Advertising

    TV Newsday runs a customized version of the Redline Ad Platform. Redline™ was called in to program custom features that the ad server did not support out of the box, as well as implement advanced features such as section-based ads and homepage and section-based interstitial ads. Our platform was also integrated with the newsletters to provide easy control and metrics of their e-mail advertising campaigns.
